Age Requirements

  • Age is determined as at 7 November 2024 by the youngest player in the team
  • Minimum age for competition is 25 years for women and 30 years for men

Event Divisions

  • 25+ Women’s 7’s
  • 30+ Men’s Rugby Union (played under the U19 IRB rules)
  • 40+ Veteran Men’s Rugby Union (played under the VRQ rules – Fun, Friendship, and Fraternity)

Fees

Each competitor is required to pay the Games Fee once and then the Sport Fee for each sport in which they register. Non-Playing Officials are not required to pay the Sport Fee.

Sport Fee: 

  • $95 per player, per team

Games Fee:

  • Competitor:
    • Early bird $130 (1 March – 31 May 2024)
    • Saver $145 (1 June – 31 August 2024)
    • Standard $155 (from 1 September 2024)
  • Non-Playing Official: $95

Payment processing fee: 1.4% (incl GST)

Entries Close

  • Team entries close: Friday 25 October 2024 (11:59pm AEST)
  • Individual entries into existing teams close: Wednesday 6 November 2024 (11:59pm AEST)

Additional Information

  • Each team is required to have a team manager who will register your team via the team manager portal prior to any player registrations.
  • Once the team is created, team managers can register players via the team manager portal or individuals can register themselves via the Competitor Entry Form.
  • For a list of the details that Team Managers require from each player for registration please download the player registration details document.
  • If you would like to play but do not have a team, please use our Sports Bulletin Board to advertise your availability or search for a team looking for players.
  • Alternatively if your team is short players please use the Sports Bulletin Board to advertise for players or look for available individuals.
  • The women’s rugby competition format will be 7-a-side, for women 25+
  • For the women’s competition a maximum of 12 players can be listed on the team sheet each game. You may have more than 12 players registered in your team (but only 12 can be listed on the team sheet for each game).
  • The men’s rugby competition format will be 15-a-side, for men 30+ and 40+ Veterans.
  • For the men’s competition a maximum of 23 players can be listed on the team sheet each game. You may have more than 23 players registered in your team (but only 23 can be listed on the team sheet for each game).
  • All men’s 40+ Veterans teams must supply a copy of their insurance to the sport convenor via email: rugbyunion@mastersgames.com.au
  • All 30+ and 40+ Veterans players are encouraged to ensure they have adequate personal injury insurance and/or private health insurance coverage for the event.
  • The competition is presented by Surfers Paradise Dolphins Rugby Union Club.
